The Digital Chamber of Ghana has congratulated the Bank of Ghana on the official launch of activities marking 60 years of the Ghanaian Cedi, pledging continued support for efforts to strengthen the currency’s role in the country’s financial system.

According to the Chamber, its members, including G-Money, MTN MoMo, Telecel Cash and Zeepay, view the anniversary as a key milestone in Ghana’s monetary history and an opportunity to deepen confidence in the Cedi as legal tender across Africa.

The industry body also signaled readiness to work closely with the Central Bank as it advances plans to introduce the e-Cedi, Ghana’s proposed digital currency. The Chamber said collaboration between regulators and private-sector players will be critical to driving innovation, financial inclusion and sustainable economic growth as the payments ecosystem evolves.
